Acts 4:13 - "Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were UNEDUCATED (they had not received formal instruction in the rabbinical schools) and UNTRAINED (laymen--not professional experts) men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus."
The difference between Peter and John vs. the religious leaders of the day was this: Peter and John had been personally tutored by Jesus; they also had an up-close and personal relationship with Him. They had been schooled by "The Living Word" (Jesus) and had graduated as "living epistles." In contrast, the religious leaders could only relate to what had been taught to them by men who read from "tablets of stone"--believing in The Father of Abraham...but not in His Son!
[II Corinthians 3:1-3]
The religious leaders were EXPERTS about what had been taught them by the rabbinical scholars of the day, but they didn't recognize, believe in, or understand "The Living Word" when He stood right in front of them and spoke.
Peter and John's hearts were filled with "godly wisdom" whereas the religious leaders only knew "man's wisdom," which resulted in filling their minds with "head knowledge." Only those who opened their hearts to Jesus, and developed a close, personal relationship with Him, were able to walk in the boldness of His power.
OPEN your HEART to Jesus....let Him come in...let Him live in you and shine through you so that men can see Jesus!
